Recipes for the best beers in America, shrinking breweries, and discounts at your favorite taproom
Hey there fellow homebrewers and beer lovers!
It has been a while since I sent this weekly resource email. I've been traveling quite a bit and there hasn't been time.
Back to your regularly scheduled programming:
1. 2019 Zymurgy’s Best Beers in America Results
You've probably tried many of the popular beers on this list. I'm sharing this because ~50% of them include a homebrew clone recipe. Click the linked beers to see the recipe. I'll be off brewing a Juicy Bits clone.
2. Homebrewer Interview: Behind the Brewer with Tim Bei
Talking with other brewers is one of the best ways I know to make better beer. We’ve all got our own styles and tricks for brewing great batches. I asked a few homebrewers I’ve met to share their process and advice. Welcome to Behind the Brewer.
3. Recipe: Norwegian Fog Sour Kviek NEIPA
"This is a fantastic beer. Crisp, refreshing and with a pronounced tropical flavor, but with a low bitterness that makes this an easily quaffable brew."
4. Colorado’s oldest craft brewery is downsizing, ending distribution and laying off 21 employees
"In an era where the U.S. (and Colorado) have more breweries than ever before, there is somewhat of a contradiction in the overall strength of the craft segment and the health of individual breweries.”
5. American Homebrew Association Membership
I've had a membership for a while but just downloaded the app recently. Wow, so many participating breweries and shops! 10% off at some breweries, happy hour all day every day at others. This membership pays for itself fast with these awesome discounts. If you're not a member yet it's time to get these discounts and perks.
That's it for this week. I hope you enjoy and brew on friends.
